[ARCHIVED] Closures Set for Freedom Road Bridge Work

Per PennDOT, traffic will be impacted on Friday and Saturday to allow the new Freedom Road bridge to be installed.

Bridge modules will be moved from Thomson Park to the Freedom Road Bridge site starting Friday, Oct. 30 through Sunday, Nov. 1. 

Freedom Road: Two closures of Freedom Road are scheduled to occur from 10 PM - 6 AM Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31. Both closures will be implemented to erect bridge modules as well as complete other contract work. 

Executive Drive/Thomson Park Drive: Transportation of bridge modules to the project site using 15-minute rolling closures will occur on Friday, Oct.30 and Sat., October 31. 

Pennsylvania Turnpike: Rolling closures are scheduled to occur eastbound at 11:55 p.m. PM Friday, Oct. 30 until 5 AM Saturday, Oct. 31 and westbound from 11:55 PM Saturday, Oct. 31 until 4 AM Sunday, Nov. 1.

In the event of inclement weather, the work will take place from Friday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 8.

Motorists eastbound on Freedom Road will turn right onto Commonwealth Drive to Thornhill Road, then go northbound on Route 19 to Freedom Road.

Motorists westbound on Freedom Road will turn right onto Executive Drive, turn right onto Cranberry Square Drive then go southbound onto Route 19 to Thornhill Road to Commonwealth Drive, back to Freedom Road.

Delays are anticipated, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes. The Township will provide police assistance during these closures.

Rolling Closures - Eastbound on the Turnpike

In addition to the Freedom Road closure and detour, motorists will also experience rolling closures going eastbound on the PA Turnpike between the Beaver Valley Interchange, Exit 13, and Cranberry Interchange beginning at 11:55 PM on October 30. 

On October 31 at 11:55 PM, the PA Turnpike will be closed westbound between the Cranberry Interchange and the New Castle Interchange until 4:30 AM on November 1.
