It’s been said that you are never lost when you can see the temple.
A new Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints temple along Powell Road will be a special place for those who are members of the denomination in the region.
The Township Board of Supervisors gave Land Development and Conditional Use approval for the Temple, to be located on 5.8 acres at 2093 Powell Road. The 29,785 square foot building will host special events and ceremonies for members of the church and will be a destination for parishioners throughout the region.
The site will feature intricate greenspace and gardening work, as well as pedestrian paths.
Officials said because the facility is only used to special occasions, day-to-day traffic impact is minimal.
Following a public hearing, the Board gave the project approval at its April 29 meeting.
