The old Rotary community information board on Freedom Road which was taken down ten years ago is about to have a 21st century successor. Bids to construct an electronic information sign which will be visible to traffic in all directions as they wait for their signal to change will be built at the corner of Routes 19 and 228 in front of the UMPC campus, were opened January 20 and awarded at the January 27 Board of Supervisors meeting. The sign, which has been a joint project of Cranberry Township Community Chest, The Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Lions and UPMC is targeting an April completion. Shamrock, the successful bidder for the two-sided billboard at $109,000, will also construct a sign framing system featuring a cut limestone look.
