A new development will keep a cool existing restaurant while expanding retail possibilities along Route 19.
The Board of Supervisors approved a conditional use Community Character Development request for renovations and expansion on 3.8 acres at 20660 Route 19. The location currently houses a Dairy Queen, as well as a miniature golf course.
The first phase project will see the construction of a new 4,162 square foot Dairy Queen with a drive-thru, as well as roadways and parking areas. Upon the completion of the new location the existing Dairy Queen will be demolished.
The second phase includes the construction of an additional 1,650 square foot restaurant and two retail buildings with 7,743 square feet and 5,388 square feet, respectively.
The project will coincide with work to place a traffic signal at Route 19 and Progress Avenue. As such, the new development’s three existing points of access will be reduced to one signal-controlled access point.
Approval was granted following a public hearing.
