For nearly a decade, Cranberry’s traffic has been running smoothly thanks, in part, to grants from the Green Light-Go Program.
The Township seeks to continue its efforts by applying for its eighth such grant for a Five Signal Detection Upgrade. The Board of Supervisors will discuss the matter during the Feb. 2 meeting.
If awarded, the grant would require a 20% Township match and would upgrade the signals in the next three years. The upgrades are needed as the current signals are reaching the end of their 10-15 year lifespan.
Signals identified include locations at Route 19 and Route 228/Freedom Road; Freedom Road and Connector Street; Route 228/Interstate 79 Nortbound Off Ramp; Route 228/Interstate 79 Southbound Off Ramp; Route 228/Cranberry Woods.
Located along critical corridors where detection is necessary for efficient signal operation, the upgraded signals will now improve traffic flow times and require less manpower to manage.
