Four of Cranberry’s five Supervisors voted to approve a tentative budget for 2012 at the Board’s November 22 meeting. Real Estate taxes for the largest of the budget funds, the $16,520,134 General Fund which includes such core Township services as Public Safety, Code Administration, and Public Works, remain unchanged. Several other line items, including Library, Fire Company, Building improvements and Road repair, however, will see a combined increase of 2.35 mils on real estate, averaging $64 a year for homes with a current market value of $200,000. The decision to increase taxes was prompted by a steady decline in state funds beginning in 2004 to support those services. Final action on the proposed budget will take place December 15, at the Board’s last meeting of the year.
